The gunman was located in the special needs classroom when he was shot by the bystander, police say. There were no additional students in the classroom besides the victims, they say. Krantz says that the teacher "who was willing to stand and fight for her children" deserves to be praised. "I think we all recognise that is true heroism, and we don't see that a lot in society." Mike Krantz is asked for further details about the firearm. He says a 12-gauge pump action shotgun was used in the shooting and the origin of the gun is still in question.

A search warrant has been executed at the suspect's home and the search is ongoing, Chief Krantz says.
