The US isn’t the only country struggling with a slice of the electorate that lacks confidence in its domestic elections. Ahead of an Oct. 27 vote that will decide Israel’s future leadership, Israelis’ confidence in their elections sits at an eight-year low, according to new Gallup polling that found 56% have faith in the integrity of the vote. That’s down from a high of 71% in 2023, following the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas.

There’s a huge confidence chasm between those who approve of the country’s leadership under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and those who don’t — just 37% of the latter have faith in the vote.

President Donald Trump has endorsed Netanyahu in his reelection bid (though his vice president, notably, has not), but fewer Israelis are pleased with him: Sixty-two percent of Israelis now say they currently approve of US leadership, down 14 points from last year.
